The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, spoke out regarding the citizen protests that took place this weekend, emphasizing that the true enemy is crime, not his government. Thousands of people expressed their rejection of the state administration due to the growing violence in the region and the tragic murder of two children, Alexander and Rafael, along with their father.
In a statement read during his weekly conference, Rocha Moya shared the indignation and grievances expressed in different forms by the population, urging them to maintain strength and courage in this difficult time. The governor assured that he would not increase his personal security, despite having been attacked by individuals dissatisfied with the situation of violence in the state.
Rocha highlighted the importance of collaboration among federal, state, and municipal forces to address the violence, involving the National Guard and the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection in this joint effort. He also called for the unity of Sinaloan society and to prioritize well-being and peace in the region.
In the midst of calls for his dismissal, the governor acknowledged that there are procedures to carry out these claims, and although there was a call for his recall, this was deemed insufficient by the local electoral institute. Rocha respected the citizen protests, emphasizing that the people are the ones who can appoint and dismiss their rulers.
Regarding the case of the murder of the children Axel, Gael, and their father Antonio, the Sinaloa government is in contact with the mother of the family and continues to implement intelligence and investigative strategies to clarify this tragic event that triggered the protests. Additionally, the execution of special operations to rescue kidnapped individuals and combat vehicle theft in the region was justified.
Rocha Moya expressed his total respect for the citizen protests and recognized the bravery of those who choose to express their opinions forcefully.
