Journalist Identified in Culiacán After Long Search

Ceci Flores Armenta, who heads the collective Madres Buscadoras de Sonora and Mexico, announced that journalist Jesús Alberto Camacho Rodríguez, who went missing in Sonora, was identified thanks to the dissemination of lists published by the Sinaloa Prosecutor's Office. Flores shared the information provided by the Attorney General's Office of Sinaloa, including photographs, which allowed the discovery of Camacho Rodríguez.

"First, they sent it only with names, and I took the task of searching for the photographs, cropping them, and putting them in the publication as well, it was how it was made known that he was the journalist whose whereabouts had not been known for a long time," Flores explained. According to her, the media in Sonora and Sinaloa were aware of the case, but many thought the journalist had simply moved away. However, the sad truth was that he had passed away.

The activist highlighted that the dissemination of the list of bodies in the Culiacán SEMEFO allowed for the identification of several individuals, including the journalist. She hopes that the Sinaloa Prosecutor's Office will facilitate the transfer of the body to Sonora. She called on the authorities to expedite the identification of bodies in forensic services, as the system is currently overwhelmed.

On the other hand, the collective Madres Buscadoras de Sonora reported that the body of Jesús Alberto Camacho Rodríguez was located in the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) of Culiacán, Sinaloa, having been admitted on October 28, 2021, without identification.

Regarding the lack of a formal report for his disappearance, it was clarified that the journalist did not have direct relatives who could report his absence. In light of this situation, journalists in Sonora are seeking to prevent Camacho Rodríguez's body from ending up in a mass grave, aiming to recover it to give it a dignified conclusion.
