The Secretariat of National Defense announced the detention of Luis Alberto “N”, alleged leader of a cell of the “Pacific Cartel”, in an operation carried out in the town of la Guamuchilera. Along with him, four other people were arrested and five high-powered firearms, 11 magazines, 524 cartridges, two grenades, tactical equipment, and two vehicles were seized. This operation is part of the security strategy of the first 100 days of the federal government to combat violence and illicit activities in the country. The detainees and the seized items were placed at the disposal of the authorities to proceed with the investigations.
The Attorney General's Office has announced progress in the investigation into the kidnapping of Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada, the murder of Héctor Melesio Cuén Ojeda, and the forced disappearance of other individuals. Blood traces were found at a property in Huertos del Pedregal, Culiacán, matching Cuén Ojeda and reinforcing the theory of his participation in a meeting with Zambada before his murder. In addition, blood traces were found in a vehicle linked to Zambada's security team, whose member is missing.
The FGR obtained a video that contradicts the previous statements of Cuén Ojeda's driver, suggesting possible complicity of the personnel of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Sinaloa in the manipulation of evidence. Following a judge's refusal in Culiacán to issue arrest warrants, the Public Ministry will present new evidence before another judge. The investigation into the murder of Cuén Ojeda has been plagued by irregularities since the beginning, including the incineration of the body before a second autopsy could be conducted.
The FGR has pointed out multiple irregularities in the investigation of the homicide, such as errors in the necropsy, lack of preservation of the crime scene, omission of key evidence, and the incineration of Cuén Ojeda's body before completing the necessary procedures. These findings cast doubt on the actions of local authorities and reinforce the need for a thorough investigation to clarify the facts.
