
In Culiacán, Sinaloa, the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense) carried out the detention of 14 people who were in possession of high-powered weapons, magazines, and cartridges. These individuals were presented to the Attorney General's Office (FGR). The operation took place on November 11 during ground patrols near the agricultural field 'El Conejo' in the Costa Rica Syndicate.
During the operation in Culiacán, military authorities managed to capture the armed individuals after they attempted to flee upon noticing the presence of the military. A security perimeter was established, resulting in the detention of the 14 people, in addition to the seizure of 13 high-powered firearms, magazines, and an uncounted quantity of cartridges, as well as the confiscation of a vehicle.
One of the detainees is a minor and was safeguarded, while the other detained individuals and the seized materials were made available to the FGR in Culiacán to continue the corresponding ministerial investigations.
In another action, this time in Sonora, elements of the Defense and the National Guard came under armed attack while performing duties in the San Vicente ejido, belonging to the municipality of Saric. The attackers, aboard several vehicles, fired upon the military personnel, leading to the repulsion of the attack and the fleeing of the assailants.
In this operation, high-powered weapons and vehicles used by the attackers were secured. Authorities will continue the relevant investigations to clarify the events that occurred during this incident in Sonora.
