A National Guard truck ran a red light and hit a motorcycle, leaving one civilian dead and a young woman injured. The incident occurred on Avenida López Portillo in the municipality of Ecatepec, State of Mexico. Apparently, the motorcycle was being driven by a woman, with a man riding on the back. The motorcycle attempted to cross the avenue but collided with the side of the truck. The State of Mexico Prosecutor's Office will be in charge of investigating the facts and delivering justice for those affected. The young man was run over by the rear tires of the heavy vehicle and lost his life at the scene. In initial traffic reports, it was said that the motorcycle had attempted a prohibited U-turn and that a compact car was also involved in the incident. However, video footage recorded by another motorist clarifies the sequence of events: the National Guard truck was traveling in the dedicated lane of the Mexibus. At 11:45 this Tuesday, the military unit approached a red traffic light and ignored it.
