Transporters have blocked key sections of the Mexico-Pachuca highway in Ecatepec, demanding greater security and an end to extortion. This has caused long queues and significant delays for thousands of motorists.

Blockades on Mexico-Pachuca Highway Cause Chaos

This Friday, the Mexico-Pachuca highway registers severe circulation disruptions due to partial blockades carried out by transporters, which has generated long lines of vehicles and complications for thousands of users traveling between Mexico City, the State of Mexico, and Hidalgo.

The protest, led by operators from different lines, is occurring at least at two key points and has created a scenario of high concern due to the impact on mobility.

Simultaneous blockages are aggravating traffic flow. According to official reports and user testimonies, the closures are concentrated at El Vigilante and at the "30-30" stop in Ecatepec, both heading towards Pachuca. The presence of protesters is maintained there, and motorists are urged to take precautions and follow road indications.

Transporters indicate that the mobilization is a response to the growing insecurity in the area, particularly due to cases of extortion, "protection money" demands, and threats against drivers. The protest aims to highlight these issues and demand safe operating conditions.

Users report considerable delays in their journeys, as well as a lack of efficient alternative routes, and videos of the long lines are being shared on social media. At these points, operators of the Baltazar and Mexico-Tizayuca lines have placed buses to block the passage, leaving only the far-left lane free.

The National Guard Roads reported a partial closure at kilometer 22 in Ecatepec. So far, no estimated time has been given for the total reopening of the highway, so the traffic chaos could continue for the next few hours of this evening.
