
On October 24th, a strong fire was reported at the Las Américas shopping plaza in Ecatepec de Morelos, State of Mexico, which caused the evacuation of customers and workers from the site.
According to initial reports, the fire started in the fast food area of the plaza and spread to a branch of Sanborns. The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 AM and the cause is still unknown.
Witnesses present at the mall shared videos showing a dense cloud of smoke traveling through the hallways, visible even from nearby avenues such as the Circuito Exterior Mexiquense.
"The fire was terrifying, everyone was trying to get out as quickly as possible. It was a tense moment," commented one of the witnesses.
Local authorities and emergency services arrived at the scene to control the situation and an investigation is expected to determine the exact causes of the fire at Las Américas.
