The Mexican Social Security Institute in Jalisco announces year-round registration for its sports initiation schools for children and youth in Guadalajara and other cities. The program offers various sports for different age groups, focused on improving health and promoting healthy habits.

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Jalisco announced that registrations for its Sports Initiation Schools are open year-round, with the aim of promoting physical activity and healthy habits among the child and youth population. These schools operate at Social Security Centers (CSS) located in Guadalajara, Lagos de Moreno, Ocotlán, and Ciudad Guzmán, where training in various sports disciplines is offered for children and young people. Available for children over six years old. The head of the Sports and Physical Culture Office, César Navarrete Hernández, shared that the call is aimed at children from the age of six. He specified that initiation into team sports is recommended between the ages of six and seven, a stage where there is greater coordination and ability to follow rules. He added that for children aged three to five, playful activities oriented towards psychosocial development are suggested. Recommended types of activities. The director of Ciudad Guzmán CSS, Enrique de la Torre Carrillo, pointed out that physical activity must be adapted to age. He detailed that for the 5 to 17 age group, aerobic activities such as swimming and cycling, as well as team sports like soccer, basketball, and volleyball, are recommended, in addition to coordination exercises like gymnastics or jump rope. He indicated that for ages 18 to 29, strength and endurance routines are suggested, such as weightlifting, calisthenics, and crossfit, as well as flexibility disciplines like yoga or Pilates. In older adults, he recommended low-impact activities such as walking or practicing Tai Chi. “Sports practice not only prevents obesity and chronic diseases, but also strengthens mental health, improves concentration, reduces stress and anxiety, and fosters self-esteem and teamwork,” he stated.
