Citizen participation becomes an active aspect to contain the spread of dengue.
Warning symptoms and preventive actions As part of the information available in the app, the importance of identifying alarming symptoms such as dizziness or fainting, abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding (gums, nose, eyes, urine, and feces), swelling (edema), and exhaustion with weakness (drowsiness) is emphasized. The Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) keeps the mobile app "Sin Dengue" available for the public, a digital tool that seeks to strengthen prevention, inform citizens, and facilitate reports on possible risk foci. In this way, health authorities seek to bring information to smartphones, allowing anyone to learn more about the disease, identify official health brigades, and report possible mosquito breeding sites in real time.
A digital tool to prevent and act The "Sin Dengue" app, available for iOS and Android, integrates several key sections. Among them are: symptoms, preventive actions, recommendations on self-medication, identification of health brigades, contact channels, surveys, reports, and general guidance on the disease. It also includes a space for users to upload photos with the location of potential mosquito breeding sites, which allows authorities to address these risk points more quickly. In the presence of these signs, it is recommended to see a doctor or go to the nearest health center. Similarly, basic measures to prevent mosquito breeding are promoted: Wash: Buckets, pools, water tanks, barrels, and any container that accumulates water. Turn over: Disused objects where water could be stored. Cover: All containers where water is stored. Throw away: Bottles, cans, bottle caps, tires, and objects that are no longer used.
It should be noted that the app also provides guidance on how to identify a health brigade member: they must wear an official vest and cap, an official ID with a photo, and a QR code on their badge to verify their identity, information that you can also verify through the app.
Cases are down compared to 2025 It should be noted that during epidemiological week 12 of 2026, only 17 cases of dengue have been registered in Jalisco. In contrast, during the same period in 2025, 487 confirmed cases were already counted. This represents a ratio of one case in 2026 for every 29 registered the previous year. However, health authorities maintain active surveillance and project to close the year with less than two thousand cases, even in an estimated range of between 1,500 and 1,800, a figure lower than the initial projections that exceeded 2,500 cases.
