The mayor of Guadalajara, VerĂ³nica Delgadillo, toured hospitals to provide support to those injured in the mass hit-and-run that occurred last Saturday in the courtyard of the Cathedral of Guadalajara. In this incident, a group of pro-life protesters was struck by an alleged car thief driving a black truck, resulting in 16 people injured. Delgadillo reported that only one patient will remain under observation in a private hospital and is in constant communication with the family to provide necessary support.
The mayor also announced that she will reinforce security in the city center following these events. A working group has been established involving various areas, such as the Historic Center, the Guadalajara Police Department, and the General Secretariat, with the aim of strengthening road safety in this area. Delgadillo expressed her commitment to ensuring the protection of citizens in the historic center of the city.
On the other hand, the State Prosecutor's Office reported that the detainee, identified as Sergio Arturo "N", 33 years old, faces charges of aggravated robbery, bodily injury, and property damage due to the incident in the Fray Antonio Alcalde pedestrian walkway. The results of the toxicological examination of the accused have not yet been received, so it is expected that this information will be clarifying in the development of the investigation.
