Investigation Launched into Bar Fire in Zacatecas

The Attorney General's Office of the State (FGJE) of Zacatecas is investigating the fire that took place on Sunday night at the Condesa bar, located on López Portillo Boulevard, at the height of the Tres Cruces neighborhood. The incident was triggered after an explosion was heard in the parking lot, causing two vehicles to be consumed by flames.

Eyewitnesses stated that it was not an accident, mentioning that a black pickup truck without plates stopped at the location, from where several people threw an object before the fire started. Subsequently, the vehicle sped away. Elements of state and municipal Civil Protection from Guadalupe and Zacatecas quickly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire, which caused damage to the vehicles as well as part of the building's structure.

Residents of the nearby neighborhoods emerged from their homes alarmed by the noise and flames. The timely intervention allowed the fire to be controlled without any injuries reported, with only material damage reported, according to the FGJE.

Authorities from the three levels of government cordoned off the area and established a security perimeter. The Investigation and Criminalistics staff of the FGJE began the investigation to determine what caused the fire. Paramedics from the State Preventive Police assisted an individual who had a minor burn on the arm and signs of intoxication, but fortunately, it was not necessary to transfer him to a hospital.

So far, it has not been determined whether the incident was an accidental occurrence or a deliberately caused act, so authorities are keeping all lines of investigation open to clarify what happened.
