The Secretaría de Cultura of Guanajuato has launched a call for local artists who wish to participate in the 53rd edition of the Festival Internacional Cervantino (FIC), which will be held from October 10 to 26, 2025, in the city of Guanajuato. Considered the most important cultural festival in Latin America, this time the festival will have the United Kingdom and the state of Veracruz as guest of honor.
Every year, the Festival Internacional Cervantino turns the city of Guanajuato into the epicenter of art and culture, with presentations in both indoor and outdoor spaces. In the 2025 edition, significant anniversaries will be commemorated, such as the 100 years since the birth of Emilio Carballido and Pierre Boulez, as well as the 150 years since the death of Georges Bizet.
The call seeks to select up to ten proposals, evaluating artistic quality, the feasibility of the performance, the artistic background of the applicant, the cultural impact of the project, and its technical and financial viability. The results will be communicated on April 8, 2025, via email to the applicants.
The Festival Internacional Cervantino has been a cultural reference since 1972, requiring that at least 75% of the participants on stage be from Guanajuato. More than 2,000 artists from 30 countries are expected to participate, offering a wide range of performances in theater, music, dance, and interdisciplinary arts.
The call is open to scenic creators from Guanajuato in the disciplines of dance, theater, music, and interdisciplinary arts, who have a minimum of five years of experience and can prove residency in the state of Guanajuato for the same period. The required documentation includes the name of the group, artist or group curriculum, show description, number of participants, duration of the presentation, and total budget with a breakdown of taxes and technical requirements. Additionally, a digital form must be completed that includes press notes, financial conditions, and technical data. Projects will be evaluated by the Secretaría de Cultura of Guanajuato and the Programming Council of the FIC.
