
The International Cervantino Festival (FIC) is about to begin, taking place from October 10 to 26, 2025, in the city of Guanajuato, Mexico. This cultural celebration will be filled with art and various forms of expression that will flood the capital of Guanajuato.
The announcement of the preparations for this great event took place at a presentation for the media on February 12. Present at this presentation were state authorities and representatives from the invited regions, including Samantha Smith, mayor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, governor of the state of Guanajuato, Claudia Curiel de Icaza, Secretary of Culture of the Government of Mexico, María Xóchitl Molina González, Secretary of Culture of Veracruz, and Susannah Goshko, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Mexico.
In this edition, the honored guests will be the United Kingdom and Veracruz, who will share the most representative aspects of their folklore, music, and artistic expressions. It is an opportunity to promote cultural dialogue and explore identities in the current political context.
The United Kingdom, recognized for great authors such as Shakespeare, Emily Brontë, and Charles Dickens, is preparing to showcase its rich artistic heritage at FIC 2025. According to Susannah Goshko, British Ambassador to Mexico, this event will strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.
On the other hand, Veracruz brings with it a Mesoamerican and Creole identity that is reflected in its varied artistic expression, from festivals to its renowned gastronomy. María Xóchitl Molina González, Secretary of Culture of the state of Veracruz, highlights the feeling and essence that will be brought to Guanajuato.
Furthermore, the festival has renewed its management structure with an Executive Direction, a Programming Committee, and an Advisory Council. Romain Greco will be in charge of the Executive Direction, while the Programming Committee features prominent names in the cultural field. The Advisory Council, composed of various personalities, will contribute its experience and knowledge to the event.
Lastly, the implementation of a sustainable approach is highlighted through the Circular Culture Program, which aims to reduce the environmental impact of the festival and promote ecological awareness among attendees and the organizing team.
