The Human Rights Commission and Attention to Vulnerable Groups met with members of the Board of the Guanajuato Initial Education Association (AEESIN) to discuss the importance of strengthening initial education and ensuring access for all children in Guanajuato. Currently, only 5% of children in Guanajuato have access to initial education.
In the meeting, Jéssica Cobián Flores, representative of AEESIN, highlighted that the early years of life are crucial for the comprehensive development of children, and that initial education is not just about providing food, but about developing psychosocial and emotional skills in children.
Members of AEESIN advocated for the creation of a specialized institute that guarantees quality initial education for all children, with uniform standards and structure. The legislators present at the meeting expressed their commitment to collaborate to ensure the necessary resources and strengthen public policies regarding initial education.
In addition to initial education, the meeting addressed the reform of the Law for the Protection of Human Rights in the State of Guanajuato and the consultation with people with disabilities. It is important to emphasize that initial education is a fundamental right for all children, regardless of party affiliation, as pointed out by David Martínez Mendizábal.
AEESIN seeks to make initial education accessible for all children, especially those in vulnerable situations. The importance of addressing this issue was highlighted by Jesús Hernández Hernández and Plásida Calzada Velázquez, who agreed on the relevance of the early years of life in the comprehensive development of individuals.
