Tribute to Titan, the Heroic Rescue Dog

Titan, a rescue dog of the English pointer breed, passed away on November 16 at the age of 14 in Guanajuato, Mexico. During his last days, Titan was bedridden due to his fragile health. Rafael Iztayul Zamudio Hernández, commander of the SIMUB Firefighters, confirmed that Titan's health had significantly deteriorated in the time leading up to his passing.

Titan stood out as an exceptional dog who tirelessly worked alongside his trainer and the rescue team in times of desperation and emergency. His bravery and skill contributed to the rescue of many people, leaving an indelible mark on the collective memory of Mexicans, who remember him with affection and gratitude for his service.

According to his trainer, Mauricio Pantoja Merino, Titan experienced a decline in his health during the final weeks of his life. The rescue dog participated in locating bodies and rescuing trapped individuals, demonstrating his unwavering commitment and ability to save lives in critical situations, as he did after the earthquake on September 19 in Mexico City in 2017.

Titan, in addition to his outstanding work in Mexico, participated in rescue operations during major events, such as the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas, in 2017. His heroism and dedication made him a reference in the field of rescue dogs, being remembered alongside other canine companions who also contributed in times of crisis.
