On Monday, 13 suspects linked to a drug cartel were killed during a shootout with authorities in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, officials reported. Security Minister Omar Garcia Harfush stated on social media that following the exchange of fire in Guasave, located in the northwestern part of the state, four other suspects were arrested, and nine people kidnapped by the gang were released. He added that security personnel on patrol came under attack from armed men hiding under a bridge, prompting them to respond.
