Assassination of Restaurateur Shocks Hermosillo

The renowned restaurateur Carlos "Charly" Tirado, owner of seafood restaurant "El Charco," was murdered in Hermosillo by a hitman posing as a Didi delivery driver. The news shocked the local population, according to Alberto Flores, commissioner of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC). Flores emphasized that, preliminarily, the homicide does not seem to be related to Tirado's business activities, also ruling out extortion or other forms of racketeering in the crime.

After the murder, various versions emerged, one of which pointed to a possible extortion payment to Tirado, a claim that was denied by local authorities. The motorcycle used by the assassin was found about six minutes away from "El Charco," along with the helmet and the Didi platform backpack that the hitman used to enter the establishment.

Alberto Flores mentioned that relevant information is being sought from U.S. authorities regarding aspects linked to the victim's surroundings. Concerning the alert issued by the United States Consulate in Mexico after the murder, local authorities denied any direct relation.

Despite the uncertainty, Flores stated that Tirado's homicide does not seem to be related to organized crime at this time. The U.S. Consulate in Hermosillo issued a travel alert for American citizens, reminding them of precautions and relevant information for those in the region. Citizens were urged to stay alert, monitor their surroundings, maintain a low profile, and follow local guidance in case of emergency.
