Ceci Flores, an activist and mother of the missing, announced that the remains found in Hermosillo belong to her son, Marco Antonio Sauceda Rocha. The Sonoran Searching Mothers collective confirmed this through a DNA test. Marco Antonio disappeared in May 2019. "With a deeply pained heart, we want to share that the remains found in days past have been fully identified and correspond to our beloved brother, Marco Antonio Sauceda Rocha. The DNA test has confirmed his identity," the collective's message read. The statement also expressed gratitude to the families, media, and authorities that supported them in their struggle. "I will continue to fight for my missing, I will continue to look for the criminals that you mention and criticize so much, because all those people have a home, a family, and someone, a mother who loves them as I love my missing," said Flores. The disappearance of her sons led to the creation of the collective "Searching Mothers of Sonora," which brings together more than 2,000 families and has participated in locating more than 1,500 people in mass graves, as well as contributing to finding more than 1,300 people alive. The remains were found on March 24 at kilometer 46 of Highway 26 in Hermosillo by Flores herself, who found bone fragments in the area. "I still haven't recovered mine, they haven't told me if it is or is not Marco Antonio," she had stated previously. "I want to see a DNA test that gives me a confrontation that it is my son, that gives me evidence... for now, all that's left is to hug a handful of bones that I have found."
