The Secretariat of Security, Prevention and Citizen Protection (SSPPC) has signed an agreement with the commercial chain OXXO to strengthen security in the municipality through the installation of technological infrastructure and direct connection with C4. The agreement involves the placement of Sentinel Towers at strategic points near OXXO stores, capturing images and videos to improve surveillance and the investigation of criminal acts.
Additionally, mobile booths equipped and labeled with the SSPPC logos will be installed, reinforcing security presence in areas with high crime incidence. The Secretary of Security, Jorge Guillén Rico, emphasized the importance of this collaboration between the public and private sectors to prevent crime and enhance the security of citizens.
In the framework of this cooperation, it has been reported that in 2024 more than 120 criminals were arrested for crimes committed against these businesses, while so far in 2025 there have been 17 arrests. Another fundamental aspect of the agreement is the integration of OXXO's technological infrastructure with C4, which will allow for continuous monitoring of the areas surrounding the stores and a more agile response to emergencies.
José Israel Navarro González, Undersecretary of Security and Protection, highlighted that this alliance strengthens the relationship between authorities and the community, enabling more effective joint actions. With this partnership, the SSPPC aims to enhance crime prevention, improve communication in risk situations, and optimize response to emergencies for the benefit of the population of León.
Regarding the results, it has been observed that theft in convenience stores has decreased significantly. César Alejandro Ortega Gamiz, regional manager of OXXO, highlighted that crimes at the branches have experienced a 50% reduction thanks to the security strategies implemented in collaboration with the authorities.
