The city of León is hosting free family activities this week, coordinated by the organizing staff and subject to material availability. Mayor Alejandra Gutiérrez called on families to take advantage of the free offerings at various points across the city during this week. She highlighted the free access to the sports facilities at Parque Deportivo Enrique Fernández Martínez, including its swimming pools—one for seniors and people with disabilities, another for children, and an Olympic-sized one—available throughout the Easter week. Additionally, she announced that the municipality is maintaining activities in parks like Metropolitano, with a daily schedule for all ages, as well as additional recreational events in the downtown area, which features music, performances, and the installation of a free Ferris wheel. In parallel, the municipality has reinforced traffic safety operations and police presence in high-traffic areas, as well as at religious and recreational events of the season, with the goal of ensuring safe conditions for visitors and residents. With this agenda, León is consolidating its Historic Center as a family meeting point during Holy Week, combining recreational activities, free access, and services for a high-mobility season. The Easter season is already underway in the Historic Center of León with a corridor of free activities that, from April 1st to 5th, transform the Main Plaza and the Expiatory area into a space for family coexistence with games, workshops, and dynamics for girls and boys. The program operates from 11:30 to 18:30, with free access for children between the ages of 4 and 12 accompanied by an adult. The ambiance includes colorful arches, thematic figures, and play areas where activities such as face painting, cookie decorating, and piñatas take place. The most popular activity is the Easter egg hunt, where participants scour the delimited space to find prizes ranging from candies to redeemable vouchers for toys.
