Authorities in León, Guanajuato, are intensifying the search for 12-year-old Mateo Santiago Ramírez Martínez, who has been missing since February 4. Efforts include distributing flyers and activating alerts. Community involvement and police efforts continue with no leads yet.


Ongoing Search for Missing Boy in León

Mateo Santiago Ramírez Martínez, a 12-year-old boy, disappeared on Tuesday, February 4, after leaving Secondary Technical School No. 39, located in the Las Mandarinas neighborhood of León, Guanajuato. Since then, search operations have been implemented, and the Alba Protocol and Amber Alert have been activated.

In the search for Mateo, his family has distributed his photograph on social media and the streets of the city in hopes of obtaining information about his whereabouts. Víctor Aguirre Armenta, Undersecretary for Human Rights Protection in León, mentioned that search efforts continue, with teams distributing flyers with the boy's photo and the collaboration of the municipal registry.

On Thursday, the boy's family carried out a search campaign that started from the Arco de la Calzada and headed towards the city center. The Municipal Search System of León is working together with a specialized group of the Municipal Police to find Mateo.

Aguirre Armenta indicated that all leads provided by citizens have been followed, and areas where the boy could be have been searched, as well as contacting relatives and acquaintances, without any results so far. The official stated that all lines of investigation remain open.

According to witnesses, Mateo Santiago was last seen around 2:00 p.m. wearing a burgundy school uniform with white stripes and white sneakers. The State Attorney General's Office has activated tracking operations in the area, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Agency.

Neighbors and volunteers have organized search brigades since the night of February 5, covering streets and areas near the school. Elements of the National Guard and State Security Forces are also participating in locating Mateo.

The family and friends of the boy have posted his photograph in businesses and public spaces, while on social media, his image continues to be shared to expand the reach of the search. Authorities are calling on the population to report any information that may help in finding Mateo Santiago.
