Supplies Crisis in León Hospital

The Regional High Specialty Hospital of Bajío (HRAEB), located in León, Guanajuato, has faced a serious supply crisis that has affected medical care and surgical procedures. Six of the seven operating rooms are out of service due to a lack of materials, causing concern among health staff and the population.

According to authorities, the situation will normalize starting February 27 with the delivery of medical supplies and surgical materials. It is expected that by mid-March the hospital will be able to operate normally. In the meantime, medical staff continues to work with limited resources, and some patients have had their surgeries postponed due to the shortage of supplies.

The shortage has been attributed to delays in delivery by suppliers, caused by the hospital's transition to the IMSS-Bienestar program. This situation has brought complications in the acquisition of medications, surgical materials, and other essential supplies. Even the supply of drinking water has been a problem, worsening the situation and hindering the institution's operations.

Antonio Chaurand, local deputy and president of the Health Commission, highlighted the importance of collaboration between Guanajuato and the federal government to avoid future supply crises in the health sector. He emphasized that it is essential to work together to ensure adequate and timely medical care for the population.
