The Municipal Institute of Youth (IMJU) has experienced remarkable growth in its services, serving more than 60,000 young people in 2024, a figure that represents an increase of 161% compared to the previous year. With a youth population exceeding 33% of the total, IMJU has extended its service hours from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. to expand the coverage of its programs.
José Alejandro Pérez Aguilar, a participant in the program, recommended this initiative to all young people interested in broadening their horizons. The Institute is the only one in Mexico certified with the ISO 9001:2015 standard, ensuring the quality of its processes and services. In 2024, psychological guidance was provided to 1,353 young people, and 14 events focused on mental health prevention and promotion were held.
One of the most notable IMJU programs is GLOCAL León Youth Around the World, which has allowed 300 young people from León to participate in international volunteer programs in several countries in Europe, strengthening their intercultural skills and enriching their training. In 2024, 180 projects of talented young people in areas such as art, technology, and social development were recognized.
This measure has facilitated access for more young people to the various services offered by the institute, such as psychological guidance, life skills workshops, and professional development opportunities. Meanwhile, a series of activities have taken place between IMJU León and ENES UNAM.
