Security forces in Mazatlán detained 12 men and seized drugs, weapons, and cartridges following a citizen complaint and intelligence operations. Security is being reinforced in Sinaloa.


Detention of 12 Men and Seizure of Drugs in Mazatlán

In the municipality of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, security forces carried out the detention of 12 men, from whom doses of drugs, firearms, magazines, and cartridges were seized. This operation was the result of investigative and intelligence work, as well as actions to strengthen security in Sinaloa, led by elements of the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), Secretary of National Defense (Defensa), Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), National Guard (GN), and Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).

In response to a citizen complaint about the presence of armed men in the Pradera Dorada neighborhood, agents arrested seven individuals and confiscated an arsenal: one long gun, four handguns, 18 cartridges, five magazines, and 50 doses of marijuana.

In another operation in Mazatlán, intelligence information led to the location of a clandestine hydrocarbon tap in the Rincón de Urias neighborhood. There, five people were arrested, and 54 cartridges, two magazines, six storage tanks with a capacity of one thousand liters each, and one vehicle were confiscated.

Moreover, in the Palmeiras neighborhood, 150 doses of cocaine, 110 doses of marijuana, and 1,242 doses of methamphetamine were discovered. The detainees were informed of their constitutional rights and were made available to the corresponding public prosecutor to determine their legal situation.

The clandestine tap was closed by Pemex personnel as part of the actions carried out under the National Security Strategy. The institutions that make up the security cabinet reiterated their commitment to work together to promote peace across the country.
