Two men were detained by officials from the Monterrey Proximity Police in the city center. The detainees, identified as Osvaldo Ezequiel G., 33 years old, and Juan Diego R., 22 years old and from Venezuela, were caught leaving a store with 10 pairs of jeans and 7,450 pesos in cash that were allegedly stolen.
The capture took place at 1:35 AM near a store called Bodega Textil Regiomontana, at the intersection of Juárez and Modesto Arreola. During a preventive patrol, the officers observed the two suspects running, one of them carrying blue jeans. Upon stopping them, they found the clothes and the cash, which they could not legally justify.
The store owner and one of his employees confirmed that the detainees had just stolen from the establishment, taking the jeans and the cash. Furthermore, it is suspected that both detainees are involved in previous robberies, including one at a fried chicken place and another at a clothing store in the same area.
These arrests were made as part of the Escudo program, implemented by the municipal administration of Monterrey to increase citizen security and reduce crime in the area. The two detainees were transferred to the Monterrey Police facilities and were made available to the Public Ministry.
