The Agro-Food Cluster of Nuevo León is working on the implementation of strategic programs and projects to improve its activities, after facing a water crisis, inflation, and environmental regulations in recent years.
Alberto de la Fuente Fuentes, the new president of the organization, announced that one of the first actions will be the launch of a diploma program in collaboration with the Tecnológico de Monterrey. This program aims to enhance the training capabilities of agro-industrial sector collaborators to face challenges with greater competitiveness.
Additionally, plans are in place to strengthen and expand the Agroalim Business Summit and Agroalim Fest, as well as organize a new major event in the sector to increase interaction and communication with society. There is also an effort to integrate large companies such as Femsa, Arca Continental, and Gruma, among others, with the goal of further consolidating business growth in the region.
Javier Yesaki, the outgoing president, highlighted the work done in the last two years, which included the incorporation of 50 companies into the cluster, the creation of financing and security committees, trade missions, and business meetings with companies from various countries. He emphasized that Nuevo León is a leader in agro-food production, with TIF certification in the largest number of processing plants in the country, placing it at the forefront of quality and safety standards.
Yesaki mentioned that the region stands out in the production of walnuts, international beer, registered livestock, as well as in the poultry and beef sectors. Regarding trade relations with the United States, special attention will be given to the export of food, such as oranges, which have a high demand in international markets.
