Governor Samuel García has launched the construction of the Airport Station of the new Line 6 of the Metro. He emphasized the importance of reaching the airport via mass public transportation, stating that it will guarantee first-world mobility. This line, the largest in the Americas and unique in the country, will connect various municipalities.

"After 40 years of solely focusing on building lanes, that is the traffic situation we have in the city of Monterrey, today we want to reverse it," García indicated. Lines 4 and 6 will reach the Airport Station, benefiting over 70% of the population. The station will have a total estimated area of 1,650 square meters, with facilities to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.

Attending the event were authorities such as the Secretary of Tourism of the State, the general director of Metrorrey, and other officials. It was announced that in December 2023, Line 6 of the Metro will be extended to the Monterrey International Airport, making it the longest line in Latin America.

The construction of the Line 6 expansion began on April 3, 2024. This station will connect the airport with all Metro lines and several municipalities in the area. García highlighted that the Airport Station will be the face of the city for foreign visitors of the 2026 World Cup, in addition to being part of a dream for Monterrey.
