Inauguration of the Airport Station in Monterrey

The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García Sepúlveda, announced the start of construction for the Airport Station of the new Line 6 of the Metro in Monterrey. García Sepúlveda emphasized the importance of this initiative as part of a shift in the city's mobility strategy after 40 years of solely focusing on building lanes.

The Airport Station, which is part of lines 4 and 6, will connect the municipalities of Apodaca, San Nicolás, Guadalupe, Monterrey, and Escobedo. It is expected to benefit more than 70% of the population and will feature modern and accessible facilities, such as escalators, elevators for people with reduced mobility, and operations adapted to the schedules of the first daily flights.

During the start of construction, various authorities were present, including the State Secretary of Tourism, Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal, and representatives from organizations related to infrastructure. The project is proposed as a key point to improve mobility in the region and will be representative for the city, especially with the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

Additionally, the contract for the construction of the station has been awarded to a consortium made up of the companies Garza Ponce, Hércules, and Moyeda. With this expansion, Lines 4 and 6 of the Metro will total 34.37 km in length, making it the most extensive metro network in Latin America. The direct connection between the Airport and the Red System is seen as an important milestone for the city of Monterrey in terms of mobility and urban development.
