La Caintra Nuevo León (NL) presented data on theft in the industrial sector in 2024, indicating that it amounted to 5 billion 950 million pesos nationwide, representing a 57% annual decrease. Jorge H. Santos Reyna, president of Caintra NL, highlighted that there was a reduction in losses due to theft in road freight transport and in goods transported by rail.
Santos Reyna mentioned that companies have had to incur additional costs due to insecurity, although this increase was lower compared to previous years. He detailed that in 2024 these costs rose to 2 billion 833 million pesos, mentioning expenses such as insurance premiums, vehicle unproductivity, delivery failures, damage to equipment, among others.
The president of Caintra NL emphasized that the reduction in reported amounts is due to coordination between authorities at various levels of government, which has yielded positive results. He underscored the importance of maintaining this coordination to ensure safety in the operation of cargo transport companies.
Despite the improvement in figures, Santos Reyna stressed that there is still much work to be done, proposing to reinforce the presence of the National Guard and state police on highways across the country, as well as generating strategies to reduce theft in the most critical points through coordination with authorities and investment in infrastructure and technology.
In this regard, the head of Caintra NL pointed out that the relocation of industrial companies is not the solution to the pollution problem in the state, but he showed commitment to work together to address this issue alongside the industry and civil society.
