The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García Sepúlveda, stated during the inauguration of the Annual Meeting of Industrialists at Cintermex that the upcoming presidential elections in the United States will not affect Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the region. He highlighted that, although some investments are on hold, the wave of investment continues to thrive and one more or one less company will not impact the local economy.
Regarding security, another issue of concern for industrialists, García Sepúlveda mentioned that, thanks to collaboration with the federal government, a 30% to 40% reduction in high-impact crimes is expected by the end of the month. He emphasized the importance of coordination with other entities, mentioning that he works closely with the security secretary, Harfuch, as well as with the governors of Mexico City and Coahuila.
The governor expressed his hope that the next U.S. president will maintain a good trade relationship, respecting the USMCA to allow for growth in exports. In this regard, he pointed out that in recent weeks, three individuals related to generating violence have been apprehended, thanks to cooperation with the Public Security Secretariat.
Furthermore, he stressed the importance of providing certainty to companies that wish to invest in the region, noting that Nuevo León has recorded a record of 68 million dollars in investment. On the other hand, he dismissed the notion that investments are being affected by the judicial reform and assured that companies are more attentive to what happens in the United States.
In summary, Governor García Sepúlveda emphasized the importance of collaboration between entities, both locally and regionally, to ensure security and promote economic growth in Nuevo León, regardless of the outcomes of the elections in the United States.
