International companies operating in Mexico are increasing their demand for sustainable energy to meet their environmental goals, according to Energías Limpias de México, a Monterrey-based company specializing in the production of solar panels, batteries, and related products.
Guillermo Baillères Zambrano, CEO of this company, highlighted that, in general, national companies pay less attention to environmental aspects than international ones. The latter are increasingly demanding that their partners meet minimum requirements related to clean energy generation.
In this regard, Baillères emphasized that the cost of technology and return on investment are the most relevant issues for businesses in this area. He remarked that the return on investment time for solar panels has significantly decreased in recent years, from six to 2.1 years. Additionally, the warranty for the panels has increased to 25-30 years, and in some cases, up to 40 years.
The CEO of Energías Limpias de México projects that this trend will continue to rise until the year 2025. Currently, the company has 3 Megawatts (MW) in Monterrey, distributed across various sectors such as retail, education, industry, and sports clubs.
Baillères highlighted that the industry is one of the main focus areas for the company, as it represents 75% of energy consumption in Mexico. He assured that working with the industry can have a significant positive impact on the environment, especially due to the need for assistance with issues like the lack of kVAs.
In Nuevo León, Energías Limpias de México is currently collaborating with 10 companies and plans to increase this number to 30 next year. Its short-term goal is to reach 20 MW in different technologies such as solar energy, cogeneration, and storage, in partnership with the company Quartux.
