Industrials in Nuevo León Embrace North American Cooperation

Industrialists in Nuevo León (NL) trust in the collaboration of the three countries to strengthen the USMCA and investments in the region, while addressing the trade deficit they face with Asia, primarily with China. Máximo Vedoya, president of Caintra NL, highlights that the stance of the United States is not perceived as protectionism, but as a defense of its national industry against unfair competition from countries like China, which do not comply with WTO regulations.

In contrast, Vedoya points out that the majority of Mexican companies comply with WTO regulations, which differentiates Mexico from China in trade terms. Furthermore, he emphasizes the importance of strengthening the North American industrial ecosystem and supporting policies for the benefit of the region, closely collaborating with the Mexican government in relation to the United States.

The president of Caintra NL believes that the USMCA is a good agreement that has benefited the three countries and requires continuous review to improve aspects such as value chains and combat unfair trade more effectively. He emphasizes the need to reduce the deficit in imports from Asia, an issue recognized by both President Trump and the authorities of Canada and Mexico.

Vedoya praises Mexico's adaptation to the United States' stance in the fight against unfair trade and in promoting industrialization, as well as in enhancing the added value of production. In this regard, he joins the call to prioritize trucks for public transport manufactured in Mexico, preferably in NL, that are sustainable and eco-friendly, thereby contributing to combat air pollution in cities.
