The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, indicated that, despite still having much to do in terms of security, the state is on the right track and will continue to improve over the next three years. More than 10,000 elements from state, federal, and municipal corporations will be monitoring El Buen Fin to ensure everything goes smoothly.
At the Explanada de los Héroes, García, along with the head of Fuerza Civil, Gerardo Escamilla, the president of Antad Nuevo León, Luis Ortiz Méndez, and other members of the State Security Table, initiated the deployment of units responsible for safeguarding the integrity of citizens and businesses during the event. He emphasized the importance of Nuevo León families being able to enjoy discounts and promotions safely.
"We want these families to feel confident going out with their children to take advantage of these offers and to do so peacefully and safely," emphasized the Governor. More than 10,000 security elements from the three levels of government will participate in the operation to ensure a safe environment during El Buen Fin.
Gerardo Escamilla, head of Fuerza Civil, highlighted the coordination between the three levels of government and the private initiative in the operation. Technological support has been implemented, connecting various surveillance centers to monitor any incidents that may arise. In 2011, there were 157 robberies of businesses for every 100,000 inhabitants, while today that figure has dropped to 14 robberies per 100,000 inhabitants.
The governor stressed that in Nuevo León, 16 billion pesos have been invested in security, significantly reducing crimes such as commercial robbery. He highlighted that the key to security in the region is presence, which is now carried out not only on land but also by air, with the incorporation of 10 helicopters and the Black Hawk in surveillance operations.
The plan for total coverage and presence implemented aims to be effective and generate peace of mind in the community. Despite the progress, García acknowledged that there are still challenges ahead in terms of security but assured that they are moving in the right direction.
