Next week, Governor Samuel García will lead the installation of the Metropolitan Environmental Commission, with the presence of the Secretary of the Environment, Alicia Bárcenas, mayors, and other officials. This initiative aims to promote collaboration between the Federation, the State, and municipalities to improve air quality.
The objective of this commission is to establish goals and actions in favor of the environment. For the state executive, this will be a political opportunity to strengthen his relationship with local opposition parties and show alignment at the national level with Claudia Sheinbaum.
The Secretary of the Environment, Alfonso Martínez Muñoz, confirmed Alicia Bárcenas's participation in the meeting that will take place in the Juárez Hall of the Government Palace. It is expected that this instance will allow for the coordination of efforts and ensure that all parties involved fulfill their responsibilities in reducing atmospheric pollution indices.
The undersecretary of the department, Javier González Alcántara, emphasized the importance of this first meeting in the fight against atmospheric pollution and highlighted the collaboration of all sectors to achieve effective results. The meeting will seek to continue with the current strategies of the state to improve air quality in the metropolitan area.
