This Tuesday, as predicted, the metropolitan area was affected by high temperatures, fires, and strong winds. The situation required the intervention of State Civil Protection to address fallen trees, fires, and other incidents. By 4:22 PM, 140 reports had been received in various municipalities.
According to Civil Protection, the presence of cold front number 31 caused wind gusts of between 50 and 70 kilometers per hour in the metropolitan area, generating multiple incidents caused by these extreme weather conditions.
Among the recorded reports are: 6 fallen signs, 30 downed trees, 9 fallen cables, 22 short circuits, 2 fires in factories, 64 fires in vacant lots, 1 fire in a river, and 6 downed poles. These events are distributed across various municipalities such as Monterrey, General Escobedo, Guadalupe, San Nicolás, among others.
The director of Civil Protection, Erik Cavazos, called on the population to prevent risks amid these adverse weather conditions. He also warned about the importance of avoiding fires and exposure to high temperatures.
"We had already mentioned the high temperatures that we will have practically all week, especially on Tuesday. We will have winds between 50 and 60 kilometers, very low relative humidity, between 2 and 6%, and the temperature will range between 36 and 38 degrees," expressed Cavazos.
Prevention plays a crucial role in this scenario, according to the director of Civil Protection. He recommended avoiding fires in both natural areas and urban spaces, and emphasized the need not to throw cigarette butts or trash.
