Civil engineer Marco Martínez expressed his concern about the safety of the Loma Larga Tunnel, highlighting that the infrastructure built in the area has significantly altered the terrain and that there is an evident risk of collapse. He questioned the necessity of paying taxes to be exposed to such dangers and raised uncertainty about the long-term stability of the structure.
Martínez pointed out that despite claims that the tunnel will not fail, there is a human intuition suggesting that the place is not safe. In this regard, he prohibited his family from circulating in the area and recommended that his acquaintances do the same. He emphasized the importance of conducting a detailed study of the tunnel and carrying out a complete rehabilitation to prevent a possible collapse in the future.
In a Working Group convened by deputy Claudia Caballero, the need to authorize immediate studies on the condition of the tunnel and the viability of possible solutions was discussed. It was suggested to implement preventive measures, such as a metallic formwork, to alert about any signs of structural deterioration and ensure the safety of the citizens. It is essential to perform a thorough evaluation and take corrective measures promptly to avoid a regrettable outcome in the Loma Larga Tunnel.
