
The government of Nuevo León is intensifying its efforts to provide legal advice on migration issues and channel social programs, under the coordination of Martha Herrera. However, it is Gabriela Zamora Carmona who is actively meeting with migrant associations to finalize details in preparation for next week.
So far, the shelters designated for migrants are not fully occupied, which has generated confidence in the state government's ability to cope with any increase in migration flow. There is an expectation that most migrants crossing the state are waiting for actions to be taken by the next president of the United States, Donald Trump, before deciding whether to continue their journey to that country, return to their place of origin, or temporarily settle in Nuevo León or other regions.
Despite the official secrecy surrounding migration issues, it has emerged that meetings have been held with associations and religious leaders to address the situation. An agreement has been reached with the Archdiocese of Monterrey to enable temples as temporary shelters if necessary.
With an average of 5,000 migrants attended to annually, authorities are confident in their ability to handle any increase in migration. The Secretariat of Equality and Inclusion plans to reinforce brigades in case of mass deportations, although these measures have not been actively implemented so far.
