Deputy Perla Villarreal expressed her concern about the lack of accurate information regarding the flow of migrants in Nuevo León and the need to find solutions to address this issue. She highlighted the importance of taking concrete measures to assist migrants and assured that the State Government, through the Secretariat of Equality and Inclusion, provides certain support to this population.
Villarreal mentioned that the mass deportations announced by Donald Trump have already begun, leading to the influx of migrants in Matamoros, although there are no exact figures on the number of affected individuals. In light of this situation, she proposed the creation of a registry and census of migrants in the municipality of Monterrey to have better control over who enters and leaves the region.
On the other hand, the coordinator of the Movement Citizen bench, Miguel Ángel Flores, stated that Nuevo León is prepared to face the challenges that may arise with Donald Trump's return to the presidency of the United States. In migration matters, he pointed out that the State has more than 140 spaces to assist potential flows of migrants, thanks to the coordination between state and federal governments.
Flores emphasized the importance of maintaining the stability and security of the state in light of the migration situation and highlighted that the Legislative branch is willing to collaborate to ensure that migration does not become a problem. Regarding economic development, he noted that Nuevo León continues to be a leader in nearshoring due to its strategic location and the quality of its workforce, urging not to let political aspects affect the region's competitive advantages.
Meanwhile, local deputy from Morena, Jesús Elizondo, requested the State Government and municipalities to act in unity with the Federal Government to strengthen the Mexico Embraces You program and prepare for possible repercussions from Donald Trump's actions. He emphasized the importance of acting in solidarity and cooperatively in the face of global challenges, recognizing Nuevo León as a resilient, innovative, and vibrant state.
Amidst uncertainty about the number of migrants arriving, staying, or continuing their journey in Nuevo León, the Legislative Group of the PRD considers it fundamental to carry out a census to have a clearer picture of the situation. Perla Villarreal emphasized the need to take measures at the federal level and other levels of government to adequately address the issue of migration and ensure the well-being of families and the economy.
