
David Noel Ramírez, emeritus rector of the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Tec), passed away on January 28 at the age of 75. Ramírez served as rector of the northern, southern, and western regions from 2008 to 2010, and later as rector of the Monterrey Campus from 2011 until 2017, the year he was named emeritus rector of the institution.
Among Ramírez's facets, his work as a writer stood out, with works such as "Golden Age," "Enough Indifference," and "Couples Thirsty for Happiness." The passing of this recognized professor caused an outpouring of grief among hundreds of Tec students on social media, highlighting his influence and dedication to teaching.
Born in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco, Ramírez had his first encounter with the Technological Institute in 1967 as a scholarship student. His teaching career was marked by his commitment, teaching for more than 110 consecutive semesters and being remembered by his former students as a always-available guide, even after their graduation.
Following the announcement of his passing, Ramírez's family issued a message on the professor's Facebook profile, urging against the dissemination of unconfirmed information. David Noel Ramírez is survived by his wife Magdalena Margáin, whom he married in 1978, and his children David Noel and Maca.
