President Claudia Sheinbaum, during her morning conference, expressed her support for Governor Samuel García in the face of attempts at political trials against him. She argued that there is an ongoing challenge in the Monterrey election and questioned whether the election should be annulled despite the existence of majority evidence.
She expressed her vision that there is a constant dispute in Nuevo León that they seek to resolve in a penal manner, highlighting the difficulty in appointing a prosecutor due to political issues between PRIAN and the governor. Sheinbaum considered it inconsistent to accuse the governor of misappropriating resources in an election that MC did not win.
The governor urged the electoral tribunal to act before issuing majority certificates to avoid prolonged electoral disputes, arguing that the 2024 elections have already passed. She emphasized that the conflict between both sides should remain in the past and that substantive resolutions by the courts are necessary.
Recently, the Electoral Tribunal requested the Congress of Nuevo León to impose economic and administrative sanctions on the governor, but the opposition has filed political trials. Sheinbaum questioned the situation of the prolonged lack of a prosecutor in the state and criticized the accusation against the governor for misuse of resources in an election that was won by PRIAN.
She emphasized the importance of addressing issues in the courts in an appropriate and resolutive manner, expressing her opinion that decisions should be made based on the alleged irregularities before issuing majority certificates.
