The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, put aside political tensions with the mayor of Monterrey, Adrián de la Garza, after months of alleged rivalry before and after the elections on June 2, 2024. García indicated that the campaign is over and he would even be willing to share a meal with De la Garza.
In an interview with María Julia Lafuente for "Telediario del Mediodía", García thanked De la Garza and deputies Carlos de la Fuente and Heriberto Treviño for helping to unlock the budget and the election of the Nuevo León prosecutor. He acknowledged that the relationship has improved and that the governance agreement has brought together all political forces for the benefit of the state.
The governor celebrated joint work with local political actors, highlighting the importance of dialogue and collaboration to achieve agreements for the benefit of Nuevo León. García expressed his desire for this agreement to last during the three years he has left in charge of the state, emphasizing the importance of governance, resources, and cordiality among the different powers.
The rapprochement between García and De la Garza materialized in a security meeting that was also attended by the new prosecutor Javier Flores. The governor expressed his support for the mayor of Monterrey and showed openness to dialogue, even suggesting they go out to eat together. In a friendly tone, García mentioned his craving for fast food and expressed his hope that both he and the mayor do well in their respective roles.
