The mayors of Monterrey and Escobedo, Adrián de la Garza and Andrés Mijes respectively, agreed to point out that in Nuevo León the favorable conditions have been reestablished to address metropolitan issues of importance, such as mobility, air quality, and the return of the Metropolitan Coordination Table, after a period of almost two years. Both mayors met at a restaurant in Monterrey, where they agreed to strengthen the relationship between both cities in order to tackle these challenges.
In this meeting, de la Garza stated that positive results are being seen in terms of security in the region, highlighting the decrease in homicides and the effectiveness in confronting generators of violence. "These are evident numbers, three years of government with a clear reduction in homicides, since October (state success) and continuing against these generators of violence, especially those of homicides," he expressed.
De la Garza added that efforts are being made to reactivate the Metropolitan Coordination Table and promote dialogue among mayors to address key issues, inviting the State to join this initiative. For his part, Mijes celebrated the recovery of governability in Nuevo León and emphasized the importance of collaboration between municipalities, especially with Escobedo, to strengthen the unity they have maintained so far.
Additionally, they mentioned the relevance of collaboration with various municipalities in the metropolitan area and the approach with the Seventh Military Zone, thanking the support provided by Claudia Sheinbaum to resume topics such as security and the environment in the region. In this regard, they indicated that there is already a budget and a new prosecutor, which has contributed to laying the foundation to jointly address key issues in the metropolitan area of Nuevo León.
