Monterrey's Mayor Pushes for Housing Development

The mayor of Monterrey, Adrián de la Garza, is intensifying negotiations with the Montemayor Foundation, with the aim of regulating urban development in an area where a connection to San Pedro Garza García is planned.

De la Garza has expressed the willingness to reduce residential density in the area, favoring the construction of high-rise housing and the creation of green spaces. The idea is to convert part of the Foundation's land into a large park, generating a balance between urbanization and natural areas in the interconnection project that will link Monterrey and San Pedro.

Additionally, he referred to the ongoing agreements with residents of the Independencia neighborhood, who would be affected by the construction. According to De la Garza, previous administrations began working with about 45 families, seeking solutions for their relocation due to urban expansion.

The mayor's efforts have accelerated following the swift action of his counterpart in San Pedro, Mauricio Fernández Garza, who has already begun construction work on his segment of the project. De la Garza's priority is to avoid conflicts like those that occurred in previous road expansions, showing willingness to reach consensus agreements with all parties involved to minimize impacts.

It is estimated that around 45 families will be affected by these changes, so dialogue and the search for appropriate solutions are the main focus in the current negotiations.
