The leader of Movimiento Ciudadano in Nuevo León, Baltazar Martínez, has made two key appointments in the party in an attempt to foster unity. During his speech, Martínez stated that Luis Donaldo Colosio and Samuel García are the natural candidates for the presidency in 2030. "Without a doubt, they are two very strong profiles for the presidential election of 2030," he commented.
Martínez Ríos has acted as a mediator within the party, facilitating meetings between Colosio, Samuel, and other leaders to maintain harmony and work towards the elections. In this line, he appointed Iraís Reyes as Secretary of Agreements and Melisa Peña as Secretary of Organization and Political Action within MC.
The appointment of Reyes aims to strengthen trust and unity in the party, as she is close to Senator Colosio, who had previously shown certain discrepancies with Governor Samuel García. On the other hand, Peña, a deputy aligned with rural mayor Raúl Cantú, was also appointed in an attempt to involve different currents within the organization.
Internally, there has been some tension perceived between the governor and some party leaders. There are opinions suggesting that García may be planning attacks against the senator, as occurred with the Next Energy contract and in the conflict over urban reforms in Monterrey. Despite these differences, Movimiento Ciudadano seeks to maintain internal cohesion in light of future electoral challenges.
