The nexus between the Morena party and the Labor Party (PT) seems to have complications in several regions of the country, and Nuevo León is no exception. Alberto Anaya, who remains the leader of the PT, has expressed his preference for supporting Miguel Flores or Mariana Rodríguez over any candidate from Morena.
In conversations with his close associates, Anaya has stated that Governor Samuel García has fulfilled more agreements with them than the representatives of Morena at the local level. This positioning has generated tensions between both parties in the region.
The state leader of the PT and local deputy, Guadalupe Rodríguez, has established a good relationship with Miguel Flores, and her vote in the legislature is already considered an important part of the support for Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) in the entity. Additionally, her deputy, Mariela Saldívar, serves as an official in the state government, thus consolidating ties between the PT and the authorities of Nuevo León.
It is noteworthy that in previous elections, the PT sector in Monterrey, known as Tierra y Libertad, decided to back the MC candidate for mayor, Mariana Rodríguez, instead of supporting the candidates from Morena, following disputes with various political operatives in the region.
On the other hand, it has been suggested that the PT seeks to position itself as an alternative for some Morena governors who feel insecure due to changes in the party's statutes, such as the prohibition of reelection and nepotism. Jesús Nava from Santa Catarina would be considering this option to boost his wife's candidacy in the succession of the position in 2027.
In summary, the relationships between the PT and Morena in Nuevo León present challenges and tensions that could influence the local political landscape in the coming years, especially in light of the search for strategic positions and alliances for future electoral processes.
