Governor Samuel García held another lengthy meeting with Senator Luis Donaldo Colosio and state leader Baltazar Martínez. García was emphatic that Colosio's electoral territory must be Nuevo León to ensure the party has strong contenders for the 2027 elections. The discussion was also precise because the senator believes that García's lobbying for gender parity is merely an attempt to displace him from any potential succession scenario. In the senator's circle, they insist he is a highly competitive profile and, unlike at the beginning of the year, he is now interested in running for office, with his focus more on MC than a possible merger with the PAN. As previously reported by LPO, MC insists on retaining the governorship of Nuevo León in 2027, which would later allow Samuel to launch as a national figure. Nevertheless, a sector within the party believes that, given García Sepúlveda's intention to advance to the national stage, promoting Colosio Riojas for the governorship is a good option to clear the presidential field for 2030. Despite the disagreements between Samuel and Colosio, Baltazar Martínez acts as a mediator, leading to meetings like the one at the beginning of this week. The meeting took place days after the former mayor of Monterrey appeared in a poll with possibilities in Sonora. Sources shared with this outlet that the meeting was aimed at unifying MC internally to create a contrast with Morena and the PRI-PAN alliance.
