The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García Sepúlveda, assured that 2025 will be remembered 'as the year of public security,' as the best results in over a decade and a half are consolidated. 'We will ask the Congress for a fiscal package worthy of the public security that Nuevo León deserves,' he emphasized. Finally, García Sepúlveda recalled that the entity has invested more than 30,000 million pesos in the Civil Force, which is currently consolidating as the best police in the country, and announced that in March the General Headquarters in Morones Prieto will be inaugurated, in addition to adding new equipment and tactical units. He stressed that the containment strategy gave tangible results in October, registering only 39 homicides, the lowest monthly figure of the year and 33% lower than the same month in 2024. 'We will maintain this determination of zero impunity, pursuing crimes immediately and firmly to continue containing high-impact crimes,' reiterated the police command. The official also highlighted the progress in reducing homicides at the municipal level. In terms of femicides, Nuevo León remains the state with the third lowest rate in the country, with an 82% reduction compared to last year, reflecting the joint work between the Civil Force and municipal corporations. 'This year 2025 is without a doubt the year of public security. In Nuevo León we are ready and are a role model,' he stressed. During the Nuevo León Informa, Samuel García detailed that homicides were reduced from 180 in March of last year to less than 40 in October, the lowest per capita level in 15 years. He also highlighted an 82% decrease in femicides and a substantial improvement in citizen perception indices, reaching an 80% approval rating. The state leader announced that the 2026 budget will include a substantial increase in resources for police corporations, in order to reinforce equipment, patrol cars, intelligence, and salaries. 'We have achieved historic numbers; we conclude the best week, the best month, and the best year in terms of security in the last 15 years,' stated García Sepúlveda, before thanking the praise from Omar García Harfuch, Federal Secretary of Security, who sees the state as a model to follow. 'This coordination is today a national example; it has been stated by Secretary Harfuch, that if Mexico had what is happening today in Nuevo León, the country would be different.' 'It is a prize that the police corporations deserve. In the annual accumulated figure, the reduction is equivalent to 741 fewer homicides, that is, a 54% decrease.'
