Businessmen from Nuevo León, led by Carlos Salazar Lomelí, attempted to register the association "Regio Poder" as a political entity, but now they claim that the State Electoral Institute (IEEPC) changed the requirements 24 hours after their application to complicate the process.
A member of the association, Andrea García Sierra, detailed that the IEEPC modified the regulations for the registration of political associations, increasing the number of articles from 8 to 154, which translates to dozens of complex requirements to meet on a "fast track".
"In 10 years, we have not had a political partnership, the institute is a ban on citizen participation, not a citizen participation tool," stated García Sierra.
On the other hand, Juan Pérez Góngora also pointed out irregularities, such as the request for oversight while the "Regio Poder" association has not used public resources.
"The problem is all the councilors here, let's see if they solve it for us immediately... the citizens are tired of the bad government," said the businessman.
Although they did not directly address a political force, in recent months the opposition has pointed to the IEEPC as an body allied with MC (Citizen Movement).
Subsequently, they assured that they will promote citizen profiles, regardless of whether they are officially registered with the electoral body or not.
"It is an attack on citizens. A day after our registration, they approved a new regulation the next day that restricts citizen participation... However, some councilors also have ties to the opposition. It prohibits young people from participating, and it prohibits a person from being in two political associations," she noted.
"The procedure carried out on October 16th is supposed to be simple, they should accept it... an association does not have public funds, and now they are establishing oversight requirements. What do they want to oversee?" she added, pointing to the IEEPC councilors.
According to LPO, it is anticipated that at the Palace of Cantera they believe these businessmen operate with the Front. Likewise, during the presentation of this document, Lomelín Salazar did not attend, who still maintains key ties with the 4T and had announced that he would support the profiles of "the best bidder," a situation that could be the cause of this attack from the rest of the parties.
Finally, they insisted on their registration with the IEEPC under the previous regulation, however, if this is not complied with, they will take legal action.
"They changed the rules of the game on us."
