On the eve of key negotiations for the 2026 Budget for Nuevo León and with an indication from Luisa Alcalde Luján for the MORENA faction to vote against the project, Governor Samuel García approached the Ministry of the Interior to defuse this confrontation between the Citizens' Movement (MC) and the 4T.
According to information learned by LPO, the MORENA faction is aware of this approach, and doubts are emerging regarding their stance on the budgetary project.
Nuevo León needs the budget, but Alcalde imperatively needs MORENA to recover ground in the polls, and to that end, she needs to confront the governor. This is understandable: MC and the PRI-PAN coalition are negotiating the 2026 Budget separately and have the sufficient votes in the plenary to approve it. Problems would only arise if the MORENA faction were to vote against the state executive's debt.
This outlet previously reported that prior to the first public negotiations among all factions, Luisa Alcalde demanded that deputies vote for zero debt.
Agreements between the National Palace and the Nuevo León Executive could dilute the front demanded by Luisa Alcalde, but there are fears of repercussions within the party.
This situation starkly exposes the difference between electoral politics and governance politics. Even the PRI-PAN coalition considers this measure "radical".
The front against the Cantera Palace recently grew with the participation of figures from across the state, including mayors and senators. Therefore, the governor's approach to the Ministry of the Interior, in addition to support for the 2026 Budget, is also aimed at curbing media attacks.
In the local political scene, the dialogue of the Undersecretary of the Interior, César Yáñez, with key actors in the entity—both from MC and the opposition—is very well known.
