In response to the property tax increase implemented by the Monterrey government, a moderate protest was held outside the Crystal Palace against Mayor Adrián de la Garza. A little over fifty people protested at the administrative building with banners and slogans such as "Monterrey doesn't solve anything!", "Lower taxes, more results!", "No to property tax hike!". Although the authorities reported an increase of up to 24% in certain areas of the capital, residents of neighborhoods adjacent to Monterrey's center, as well as the northern zone, stated that property tax valuations of between 500 and 700 pesos increased to over 1,000 pesos. In response, the Crystal Palace administration considers this to be another front from the Citizen's Movement (MC), the only faction that has pointed out this increase and even accompanied citizens with injunctions that, according to the city government, will not proceed. This is compounded by the fact that the protesters arrived together, transported by personnel vehicles, and they had very elaborate banners and point to sympathizers close to MC. Parallel to the 2026 Budget negotiations, another front has opened between MC and Mayor Adrián de la Garza, mainly due to his closeness to businessmen and the property tax increase. This situation resulted in complaints filed with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, as well as in the Congress against the coordinator of the orange bloc, Sandra Pámanes.
